285th Day-6/12/2011

Today is Tuesday, 6/12/2011. On this day, Swiss people celebrate Santa Claus Day. Santa Claus goes to houses, schools, shops, the streets or train stations! They will tell you what you did wrong during the whole year and give you sweets, mandarins and chocolates.

During Chemistry, two Santa Clauses, Samichlaus and a helper Schmutzli(in Swiss German), came in!! It was so obvious that they were the students in the 4th Grade. But still, it was new and funny for me!! The Santa Claus called out my name and asked me to snap my fingers!! Lol... I failed to do it the first few tries, and when I was able to do it, they gave me an applause… lol! We got a big sack of peanuts, chocolates and mandarin from them :D

in my class..

sack they gave us..

We had a special lesson for English. The brilliant teacher made it into a speech competition! I represented my group! I prepared myself with a 2 min speech that was corrected (AND IMPROVED) by Lauren, and I practiced it a few times!! None of my classmates prepared! They were so impressed when they heard my speech, and I got first place. Hehe... no one knows I was a debater!! Got a small present from the teacher and chocolates again!!

I stand there to talk..

After the English lesson, we did something together in the Klasse Stunde(direct translation: class hour, I don’t really have a translation for it D:). I got a small paper with a name on it and I needed to write what I am going to give her or him for her/his Christmas present. It was a cool idea After that, we waited in the cafeteria for the Biology lesson. Everyone was studying for the exam and I was relaxing, playing with the chocolates and my friends joined me and taught me something. It was the thing you need to say before the Santa Claus gives you the sack. It was so hard to pronounce because it was in Swiss German. We laughed a lot because of my special pronunciation. It goes like this:

 Sami Niggi Näggi
hinderem Ofä steiggi
gimer Nuss und Birä
denn chumi wieder füra.

In the Chinese Lesson, I did a presentation about Malaysia, the same presentation I did in my class. It was bad: the slide show experience some technical problems, not everyone was listening, there was no reaction, it was noisy and someone laughed at my German grammar mistake. Maybe I was too sensitive but it spoiled my day and mood!! Luckily, after the Chinese lesson, I saw Alexandra and we took the train together. I felt better after talking to her.

u guys in my slide show!!
but the pic..haiz..

I took the train to Zürich because I wanted to see Zürich at night and to go to a AFS Gathering, Rümmli. This gathering held every first Tuesday. I haven’t been there before because Zürich is too far for me to travel to during weekdays. In Zürich, I met with Naoko and met a new exchange student from Ecuador. He was so, so cute and his name is Sebastian. Really nice to meet him. He was so funny and made me forgot about the failed presentation!!

Although it rained the whole day, Zürich still shone with the Christmas lightings. The Rümmli was not special; it was worse than what I expected. It was just like a party place for the Latinos and they were really hyper and loud!! But anyway it was a good experience and I met some new friends!!Actually, now I am kind of lazy to meet new friends. I’m too lazy to explain everything all over again .
